EQUIPMENT
Composites
The materials for the sandwich and infusion composite construction are selected with precision so as to achieve the best possible combination of lightness/solidity on the market.
Keel
The keel is made entirely from lead, mounted on a keel sump giving the J 80 its 50% ballast ratio and supreme stability.
Rig
The rig is part of a very precise choice to offer the best standard of equipment on the market for the J 80.
Club boat
With the boat being so easy to sail, it is very popular in clubs geared towards cruiser-racer training. The jib furler and the asymmetric spinnaker facilitate manoeuvres and enable less experienced sailors to get their bearings with ease.
Races
The J 80 is a very interesting one design yacht to trim in race format, particularly in light of the highly competitive fleet. As such there is very little separating the boats on the water, resulting in a real adrenalin rush!
Sensations
Thanks to its inertia, this boat is great to helm upwind. Her lightweight design also enables her to very quickly get up on the plane in downwind conditions and reach average speeds of 12-13kts in upward of 15kts of breeze!
Dayboat
With her roomy cockpit, the J 80 is also perfectly suited to daytrips with family and friends.
International classes
The J 80 has garnered huge praise the world over. The J 80 classes are extremely dynamic in multiple countries, with yearly gatherings at both European and World competitions!
Respecting the class measurement
J Composites devotes considerable time to respecting the class measurement. With over 10,000 sportsboats built in the past 30 years, the J Composites yard has manufacturing tolerance down to a fine art.

One design requires specific equipment in terms of deck hardware and sail area, which translates as an interesting racing programme, whilst limiting the expense of the arms race.
